The Penny Project
Upcoming Events |
The story of Central’s Mission to Lesotho begins with the “Penny Project”, an outreach program run by the children’s ministry at Central. Its original aim was to involve the children of Central in a project that would help to fund “Rachel’s Home”, an orphanage for the child victims of Lesotho’s AIDS epidemic.
From such small beginnings, God makes amazing things happen.
By early 2008, the Rachel’s Home Lesotho Mission had been born. A team of 27 volunteers was assembled to travel to Lesotho for two weeks. The team built three classrooms, mentored teachers, restructured classes, organized the orphanage, roughed in wiring to the existing classrooms, created a resource centre, put up a clothes line, installed bars to improve the security, delivered more than 1300 lbs. of clothes, supplies, tools, toys and much, much more.
All of this was completed in just six days!
alow of less than 1000 sq ft., is home to 45 children. The husband and wife team, of Godwill and Hilda, with help during the day from two local women, look after these children. The needs are so great.
Please help us help the children.
