Lawrence Opens the Show

On behalf of the Missions & Outreach Committee, I would like to thank all of the performers who so generously shared their talents in support of Sunday Night@Central, our fundraiser in support of the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank. With your help, we raised $733.55 as well as some non-perishable food items.

The evening began with Rachel & Joshua Cleland singing a wonderful duet. At just 8 years old, Joshua has a wonderful gift for music. It was a beautiful way to start the evening. Rachel then had fun with a rather cheeky performance from La Bohème. It was a perfect way to start the evening.

Next up, Kim & Tim Hopper again showed us their musical talents with a duet of Frank & Nancy Sinatra’s Something Stupid

Jim Mattear performed next. Jimmy was Jimmy. He never disappoints. His rendition of I Love you just the way you are was magnificent.

Ian Reid was our first performer from outside Central’s family. He performed an original piece that left everyone wanting more.

Brad & Cary Paddock, yes Cary, then sang My Gift is my Song. Brad has always insisted that he can’t sing and that he ought to stick to the piano. Well Brad, you can’t hide anymore. Now we know you can sing and so can Cary. In a night of wonderful surprises, this was another gem.

Neil Light then brought his folksy brand of music to the stage, a great way to end the first half of the evening.

Diane Kennedy opened the second half, with a beautiful song called Common Ground, followed by Nigel Hull performing on the violin. Nigel performed a medley of his original pieces that evoked haunting melodies of our Celtic past.

Don McGeoch then “Came to the banks of the Grand” with an original piece he calls Rivers followed by a rather cheeky song of his own.

Elizabeth Cresswell gave us a wonderful rendition of You’ve got a Friend. Indeed, we had a lot of help from our friends. The entertainers, volunteers, and of course, our audience who gave so generously.

The closing act was Cam & Pat. Their folksy style was a capped fun night.

It was a great night, for a great cause. Thank-you Again to everyone who helped make this night a success.
